“45 degrees but never cold! Do it!!!! We had so much fun. We were outfitted with a warm wetsuit and never felt cold or uncomfortable. Despite the water being 45 degrees. We saw tons of starfish and had a beautiful time swimming through the kelp. I definitely recommend this experience. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable and really cared that we had a good trip. They made sure we made it back to our cruise on time.” —Megan

“We were on a cruise and decided to go out on a limb and snorkel while in Alaska. My kids (15, 13,11) thought I was crazy for booking it (too cold!) but it was their FAVORITE excursion from the whole trip. The ladies running the place did such an awesome job making sure everyone had well-fitting masks, hoods, gloves, etc so that we all stayed nice and warm. “We booked an afternoon snorkel tour at Magic Island in August - it was the highlight of our trip! We had never been snorkeling before, but Selkie Snorkels provided us with all the equipment and instruction we needed to have a great time. Ellie and Peter were wonderful guides. We were well outfitted and never cold even after being in the water an hour. If you have only snorkeled warm waters, you MUST try this! We saw so many brilliant sea stars and anemones, gorgeous giant kelp, ethereal jellyfish and an angry little eel. Selkie Snorkel is not to be missed in Sitka. —Bob

This was my favorite excursion in Alaska hands down! I was a little nervous, I thought it would be too cold, but Selkie outfitted us with all the gear including special wetsuit, gloves and booties and it was delightful! They had gear for all shapes and sizes, which was great for our group. I saw sea stars, urchins, lots if different kinds of fish and so much more! Our guide was so helpful and kind, especially for someone like me who doesn’t have a lot of snorkeling experience. The suits make you so buoyant you can just float on the surface of the water while you enjoy the view. If you’re in Sitka, don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity! —Tiffany
