Can’t get enough of the intertidal life? Not looking to get in the water? This behind the scenes tour is for you!

We’ve teamed up with the local Sitka Sound Science Center….

to share even more knowledge with our guests. They were founded in 2007 with a mission of increasing understanding and awareness of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems of Alaska through research and education. To learn more about the aquarium and hatchery feel free to see their website.

On this exclusive Behind-the-Scenes tour, you will meet expert aquarist, Matt Wilson, and join him for a hands-on encounter with the cool, the wet, and the slimy by spending 45 minutes as a member of the aquarium staff. Matt is a professional biologist who has a rare zest for strange and often overlooked creatures like jellyfish that make up so much of our ocean. Practice your observation skills, try your hand at preparing food and feeding animals, or even assist in animal healthcare. Activities will vary based on the real needs of the animals in the aquarium. This tour is a great add-on if you have extra time before your snorkel tour with us and want to learn about what you might encounter in the ocean during their time with us. It is also a great way to engage with intertidal life without having to get in the water.

If you are on a snorkeling tour with us, we will pick you up from the Science Center after your tour to take you on your next adventure with us. See further meeting instructions in your confirmation email from us.

If you are only looking to book this behind-the-scenes tour, please email us directly selkiesnorkels@gmail.com.
